The expectations for English Language Learners (ELL) in United States schools are high. These students accept the challenge to learn school content and compete academically with native English speaking students. This means that a major goal of ELL education is that learners' English proficiency will come as close as possible to that of native speakers of English. This requires that learners use English, including written English, in their schoolwork.
Pendleton offers an ELL program that helps international students prepare themselves for college.
